In 2012, Max Richter ‘recomposed’ Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons to give listeners a new perspective of the masterpiece. He was joining a series created by the German recording company Deutsche Grammophon which invited artists to use pre-existing recordings and remix and recompose the pieces.
His new Vivaldi combines the Baroque master’s work that we all know so well with his own post-minimalism to create a work that is both familiar and new.
It’s still a concerto for violin and orchestra but heard through the mind of Max Richter. (born 1966-)
The full, live performance of “The Four Seasons” by Vivaldi-Richter can be heard live on the upcoming concert at Place des Arts at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May the 4th.
The Four seasons by Vivaldi and Richter will be performed by the Orchestre de chambre du Grand Montréal and soloist Marc Djokic with the essential collaboration of choreographer Anne Dryburgh, and the dancers of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec.
