A generous donation from the Stuart family

Mr. and Mrs. Colin Stuart have fulfilled the wishes of their father and father-in-law, Mr. Okill Stuart, to donate a platter to the Historical Society. This platter was given in 1931 to Mr. E. Douglas Stuart, father of the latter, by the Mayors of the South Shore, in recognition of his work with the South Shore Transportation Commission. By doing this, the Mayors of Saint-Lambert and around recognized the efforts made by Mr. Stuart, the Commission’s President, working on the challenges facing this part of the Montreal region. His determination led to the construction of the viaduct access at the northern entrance to the Victoria Bridge. The gift was accompanied by a certificate signed by all of the mayors. The Stuarts also donated a tea service, one of their family heirlooms. The Society would like to officially thank the Stuart family, for these generous donations to its collection.
