The south shore university women’s club (SSUWC)
Back to directory

The South Shore University Women’s Club was founded in 1957 in Saint-Lambert and is composed mainly of English-speaking women of all ages, backgrounds, walks of life and levels of education. Members come from different communities on Montreal’s South Shore.

The Club is a member of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) and actively supports CFUW values through their community involvement to support public education, environmental initiatives and to raise women’s social, economic and political status.

For over 65 years, the SSUWC has provided scholarships to women pursuing education in many different fields at both the English and French CEGEP, university and vocational levels.

Our regular meetings are held on the last Tuesday evening of October, November, February and March, either in person at Champlain College or on zoom, depending on the weather. Often, interesting guests are invited to these meetings to speak on a variety of topics. The opening meeting in September is a meet-and-greet that features our scholarship recipients. Our closing meeting in May is a social dinner event.

If you want to:

  • expand your interests,
  • make new friends,
  • get involved,
  • advocate for change, and
  • support higher education for women,

… then join us!
