Since 1985, La Mosaïque has been working to strengthen social ties and the social fabric of the agglomeration of Longueuil by offering support services driven by volunteer action.
Its services are aimed at helping maintain the autonomy of individuals living at home, support the natural-caregiver network of those who are losing their autonomy, offer advice and support to people who are isolated or disadvantaged, and improve their living conditions, all while respecting their dignity.
All La Mosaïque services are designed to meet fundamental needs by focussing on the following areas:
- health promotion and prevention;
- accompaniment and support;
- assistance for low-income citizens;
- social and employment integration; and
- ecology and self-funding.
A number of activities are held to offset the isolation and foster the autonomy of seniors: by accompanying them to CLSCs, helping them with shopping and errands, group restaurant outings (Bouffe-Amis), cultural excursions and visits to markets. etc.
The La Mosaïque boutique – its big community thrift shop – features different and complementary sections and offers a wide range of new and used products such as clothing, furniture, books, toys, bedding, electronic devices, gifts, and fashion accessories. Donations and the proceeds from purchases made at the Boutique go directly toward funding La Mosaïque’s support services.
